We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricardo Leonel Torres Huerta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ricardo Leonel, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I created Leonel’s Custom Cabinets and Woodwork about three years ago, working out of my garage. I now have a clear idea of what my end goal is; I aspire to expand and open my own cabinet shop with the ability to employ and teach others about cabinetry. At the end of my professional career, I hope that Leonel’s Custom Cabinets and Woodwork becomes a renowned name in the cabinetry business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a craftsman custom cabinet maker with a background in both residential and commercial. I specialize in kitchens, closets, media centers, office cabinets, display tables, design centers and sales offices. I’m most proud of delivering and exceeding customer expectations on all projects, small and large scale. What sets me apart from others is my ability to create uniquely individual custom projects. My career began 25 years ago in New Port Beach, CA. I was an apprentice at the age of 20 and remained so for the next 4 years. In that time, I gained the skills necessary to build beautiful cabinets. To further my skills, I began installing cabinets and did so for another 4 years. At the age of 28, I moved to Arizona as a certified custom cabinet builder where I worked for various companies for the last 20 years. Around 3 years ago, I decided to take a chance on my passion of carpentry and created Leonel’s Custom Cabinets and Woodwork. Was it easy? Nothing worthwhile is easy, but I am thankful to say I have yet to hit any obstacles I could not overcome. I am also grateful for the clients who have entrusted me with their home projects and proud to deliver great craftsmanship to each one. With continued efforts and hard work, I hope to take my passion to the next level.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I enjoy a refreshing cocktail at Sotol Modern Cocktail Kitchen. This roof-top restaurant, located in Gilbert has amazing views at sunset.
